“AND FINALLY…” LEXISNEXIS BUTTERWORTHS TOLLEY FEEDS ITN NEWS

A new partnership with ITN will see LexisNexis Butterworths Tolley, Europe’s leading supplier of online news and business information, provide comprehensive news content to journalists across the corporation from its global portfolio. The LexisNexis Butterworths Tolley service replaces ITN’s traditional paper-based newscutting service.

From May, ITN news teams will be able to rely on a LexisNexis database of over 11,000 global news sources to help them research stories as they break, whether a local story or a major world concern like the escalating Middle East crisis.

ITN broadcasts daily to a TV and radio audience of over 30 million people worldwide. It produces news programmes for all three of the UK’s terrestrial commercial television channels, – ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5. ITN also controls the pan-European television news channel, EuroNews, which reaches over 94 million households in 43 countries, and produces the ITN News Channel that broadcasts 24 hours a day on cable and satellite.

LexisNexis content will be delivered direct to each journalist’s desktop via a customised interface designed especially for ITN’s news production system ENPS.  Reporters can search a wide range of indexed global news sources including national newspapers, trade titles, newswires, biographies of key personalities in the world’s news, and archived news from as far back as 1973.
Journalists reporting from the field will be able to obtain their research via web-based LexisNexis services. The deal also includes access to LexisNexis Butterworths Tolley’s business intelligence tool nexis.com.

LexisNexis Sales Professional “Traditionally, ITN has relied on newspaper cuttings services for background information on breaking news,” says Darren Long, ITN Head of Archive Resources. “But with journalists working against the clock, it’s vital that the research tools they rely on are 100% accurate, unbiased and up-to-date. With LexisNexis, the widest range of UK and international content is just a couple of clicks away, meaning our journalists can continue to produce robust and enterprising news services, with greater ease and assurance.”
