Q: I’m looking for information about the company egg but I keep bringing up irrelevant results when I type egg?

A: The segment ‘company’ ensures that articles retrieved are about that company and not just mentions of the word. For example:

Company (egg)

Q: I want to run a press search on several organizations at once.

The Boolean operator OR allows you to do this. The search below will retrieve documents about these charities even when they don’t all appear together in the same articles:

Greenpeace or WWF or RSPCA

Q: How do I find the most relevant articles about the company Microsoft?

A: Lexis Nexis Smartindexing Technology produces a relevancy percentage for each indexing term that is added to an article. This enables you to enter a search that will look for articles containing only a strong mention of a particular company. The example below will search for documents that have a positive relevancy score of 80%+ to the company Microsoft:

company (Microsoft pre/3 8*% or 9*%)

Q: I’m looking for analysis and data reports on publicly traded corporations.

A: Use Investext. Investext is a database containing company, industry, geographical and topical reports from the world´s leading investment banks and research firms. For example to find reports by Merrill Lynch about Orange PLC:

Company (orange plc) and source (Merrill lynch)
