BIRD-ONLINE USERS TAKE WING WITH 5,000 NEWS SOURCES FROM ROUND THE WORLD

bird-online, the web-based service at www.bird-online.co.uk that helps small and medium sized companies to plan, run and develop their business, including advice on setting up companies online, has added the LEXIS-NEXIS news database service which provides access to more than five thousand news sources from round the world.

bird-online has a developing reputation for providing access to information resources for SMEs, which have been specially selected and vetted to meet the needs of this particular market. Now visitors to its website can search for news stories on any topic, individual, or company from newspapers, magazines, or journals published today, or in some cases as far back as 18 years.

Dr Chris Allman, bird-online´s technical director, believes that big business will continue to rely on subscription services for their information needs: "Smaller companies really need access to the best information but on a ´pay-as-you-go´ basis to keep costs down, whether they are in the crucial start-up period or starting to see successful growth.
